Since graduating from the University of Tasmania,I have been working at Troppo Architects (QLD) under the guidance of architect, Geoff Clark. In this office I am currently working as a project architect. My role in the office is as one of the more senior staff, however due to the size of the office this is often not all that dissimilar to some of the more junior employees, with the exception of site visits and client meetings. The office is very young with all of Geoff’s employee’s under the age of 25.

Working in this office has given me the opportunity to see projects from initial client meetings right through to construction. I have gained experience in dealing with clients, consultants and builders and am looking forward to what the future may hold.

Projects

I have worked on a wide and varied selection of projects. ESD is integral in our designs which tend to be elegant, but nuts and bolts in their nature. These projects range in scale from deck extensions, right through to large multi-practice competitions for billion dollar commercial, residential and government projects. The majority of my time in Townsville has been spent working on residential projects such as new homes, beach houses and renovations and additions to Queenslanders. .

Competitions

We have been involved in a number of architectural competitions during my time at Troppo, winning the Thuringowa Climatic Design Competition and gaining a commendation in a recent Regional Architecture award. One project that I worked on for Inside Out Architects when I first started working in the office also recently won a commendation in the R.A.I.A.’s North Queensland Regional Architecture Awards.
